T & A were the only ones in the Burger King.
They sat at the table in the corner, drinking their milkshakes and eating their burgers. T kept rubbing her arms to stay warm, A was playing footsie with an empty straw wrapper on the ground. They talked about their babies.
Gwen Stefani came on the radio, and an attractive man walked in the Burger King, going straight to the bathroom. The door made a loud “thump” when it closed, startling the two women.
T & A sat silent, bobbing their heads to the beat, and finishing their milkshakes and burgers. A wanted to put on one of those silly crowns, but she didn’t know what T would think about her afterwards. T just wanted to follow the attractive man into the bathroom and give herself away.
Outside, the attractive man’s wife sat in a warm car waiting for her husband. Gwen Stefani came on the radio, and the beat shook the rearview mirror.
